Turning any project into reality
Established in 1998, Greenwood Joinery has grown from a modest workshop in Ashford to a leading joinery firm based in Rathnew, Co. Wicklow. Our journey reflects an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Over the years, we’ve expanded our facilities and honed our expertise, allowing us to undertake a diverse range of projects – from bespoke kitchens and staircases to traditional sash windows, shopfronts, and bar fittings. We also specialise in heritage and period property restoration, bringing original features – such as sash windows and timber detailing – back to life with care and precision.
At Greenwood Joinery, the quality of our materials is as important as the skill behind the craft. We work primarily with hardwoods such as oak, sapele, mahogany, walnut, and ash, along with the high-performance Accoya, for which we are an approved manufacturer. We also use sheet materials like Tricoya, birch plywood, and high-quality veneers. Depending on the application, every material is carefully selected for its durability, stability, and ability to deliver a flawless finish – ensuring our work is both beautiful and built to last.
Our skilled craftsmen take immense pride in their work, ensuring that every piece we create or restore meets the highest standards of excellence. Our reputation for attention to detail and exceptional customer care has earned us a loyal client base that extends far beyond our local community.
As members of the Guild of Master Craftsmen since 1999, we uphold the values of traditional joinery while embracing modern techniques and materials. At Greenwood Joinery, we believe that every project tells a story. Let us help you bring yours to life with craftsmanship that stands the test of time.
This project involved sensitive restoration works on a church dating back to the 1600s—its first significant intervention in centuries. Greenwood Joinery introduced custom wall panelling to discreetly conceal wall-mounted radiators, incorporating bespoke airflow grids for effective heat transfer. A new gallery was constructed using a combination of reclaimed pitch pine and oak posts, while all furnishings were handcrafted from reclaimed pitch pine to honour the building’s historical character. Original sash windows were carefully restored and fitted with secondary glazing to protect and showcase handmade stained glass, marrying tradition with modern performance.
This bespoke kitchen features handcrafted cabinetry finished in deep, hand-painted tones, paired with a richly grained island that anchors the space. The layout and design were tailored precisely to the client’s taste, incorporating subtle brass hardware, statement lighting, and high-performance appliances. The result is a timeless and functional space that merges classic materials with contemporary elegance, all executed with meticulous craftsmanship.
This striking staircase was designed and built to suit the client’s exact preferences, combining functionality with refined aesthetic appeal. Handmade brass balusters were developed specifically for the project to achieve a soft satin finish, while the timberwork was carefully crafted and hand-painted for a flawless result. The staircase adds a sense of openness and elegance to the space, serving as both a structural and design centrepiece within the home.
Set within a restored country farmyard barn dating back to the 1500s–1600s, this bespoke bar was constructed using reclaimed North American pitch pine sourced from a demolished London dockside warehouse – originally cleared to make way for the Olympic Village. The timbers, rich in history and character (with arrowheads even discovered within some), were meticulously repurposed to create an atmospheric centrepiece. Traditional joinery details, warm patina, and brass foot rails complete a space that honours both its setting and the remarkable journey of its materials.
